Season IV Prior to WC: WotLC

Confirm. Drysc, the pimp of the WoW Forums, all but stated in bold blue that Season IV will preclude the release of the much anticipated second expansion.

I'm damned stoked - especially in view of my weaksauce Arena Point total. So what does this mean, exactly? It means that S1 will be retired, S2 will go honor based, S3 will be straight Arena Points, and S4 will be based on a new system. It's worth reminding you all that a player can bank a maximum of 75,000 Honor Points and 5,000 Arena Points.

What the new system is, precisely, is still being debated. It ranges from earned "tokens" to mixing in some PvE accomplishments with one's PvP earning in order to purchase the Brutal Pieces. In the meanwhile, take a look at some of the S4 some people data-mined from the PTR (incidentally, the picture is the complete plate Gladiator's Battlegear):
Seasons have and will likely continue to match PvE progression. There's always the possibility of starting a new season and not adding new items of course, but as we have Sunwell coming a season 4 and upgraded items to match Sunwell item budgets are an inevitability.

Arena Points Calculator

The site, appropriately named Arena Points Calculator, not only helps you determine how many points you'll gain for your weekly rankings, but also provides a Goal Calculator when you know what gear you want to help determine how long you have to perform at what level. Give it a look-see if you're Arena battling!

Incidentally, if you feel like long-handing your Arena calculations, the formulae are as follows from Blizzard's Official World of Warcraft site (click the image for a larger version):

Scheduled Maintenance

Blah blah blah no logging on until after 1:00 PM CST. Same old song and...

...wait. It's 12:24 and I am logging in now. Nevermind!

For the Collectors in Our Guild

Brad writes all non-XP stuff off as "geh RP /jimmy", but I know a few people who might be interested in collecting the Vanity Pets. To this end, there is a new website called Warcraft Pets. In addition to a comprehensive list of all in-game, TGC pets and promotional rares, it also lists new pets that will be featured in the upcoming 2.4 patch.

Each pet has a full featured index of information, including idle habits, rarity and a YouTube. Also, as with most database sites, the search function is fully customizable and you can also keep track of your personal collection by signing up.

This particular pet picture is of the Wolpertinger, obtained only during Brewfest. You can summon it with the Wolpertinger's Tankard, which an easily won quest reward.

Why We Rolled Horde

When Dannielle and I decided to re-up our accounts, the decision was made to reroll. Mike already having a level 60 on Bonechewer, invited us to the "dark side", but there were other reasons, too. Namely, we had all been Alliance already, and really didn't relish the thought of unwanted Akamanians from our collective past transferring with a, "hai /ginvite plz kk it's me,whisper.

One of the very pleasant surprises evident straight away was the level of assistance we received in-faction when faced with ganking issues or quest difficulties. Horde really does stick together better. It wasn't long before we also found out another perk of being Horde on this realm.

Horde utterly destroys in PvP here.

As a testament to this, I tracked down a City Raid ran back in December. From all accounts, Alliance asses were served on silver platters, although Bronzebeard is a complete badass. Enjoy!

Bank Gold Addendum

As our coffers fill, we're finding greater guild needs than simply "more tabs" - namely, items of value to the guild such as patterns, recipes, schematics, and even the occasional piece of gear.

To this end, if you find something on the Auction House you feel would be greatly beneficial to the guild as a whole, contact me in-game or in vent to discuss the item in question. I'll review your request and talk with the other Founders. If we agree with you, then I'll withdraw the funds and purchase the item and place it in the bank for your withdrawal.

This obviously means you will have to be a member in order to access the phat lewt. As a reminder, you have to deposit 15 gold into the bank in order to withdraw items.

Finally, once we begin raiding, I will allow Guild Bank gold to be used for repairs by players ranked Member of higher during the raiding period. All qualified players participating in the raid will be moved to a special rank, allowing guild funds to be used for repairs. After the raid is over, everyone will be returned to their original rank.

Phat Lewts!

My grind (and source of much teasing by Brad) with The Defilers is finally over. I reached exalted and completed the quest, Take Five Bases. Sure, the 3 gold wasn't all that great for the completion, but the other item... sexy.

Bear witness to the coolest tabard in World of Warcraft: the Battle Tabard of the Defilers!

Speaking of cool loot - and this is arguably far more useful - Brad finished gathering all the cards to make his Darkmoon Card: Vengeance the next time the Darkmoon Faire is in town, which is March 10-16. Anyone who has watched prices on these single cards knows the amount of time and money he invested in this awesome little trinket.

And in final news: Erick reached level 70 with Ithorlan, paid for his flying mount training, and constructed his Flying Machine Control last week. Congratulations to our first non-Founder to reach flying status! Look for him over Shatterath pew pew pewing people from his roflcopter.

Literally. He has a macro.

Wrath of the Litch King Beta Rumors

According to all official Blizzard news releases, there currently is no beta available for the upcoming expansion. There is, however some very tasty speculation over at WoW Inc Gamers. Referencing an official news release, the reporter points out
That tasty bullet point; "And more..." is very alluring though! A lot of hints point at Blizzard starting a Wrath of the Lich King Beta (and/or StarCraft II Beta) shortly after WWI, or that they will announce a Beta Date during the event.
Here's to a quick beta test, a gold press, and a quick release of this much-anticipated expansion.

Raiding, PUGing and a Clarification on Participation

Author's Note: Ah, the joys of insomnia. I hope this article sheds some light and provides some hope for those of you feeling under-geared. At the very least, it provided me with something to do until I could fall back asleep.  - Radd

As our ranks grow, and people gain focus on what they wish to accomplish after earning the required 10,170,700 experience points to attain level 70, it is time to announce the position of Frequently Reported and PUG raiding.

Which is to say, we don't have any rules prohibiting you from doing so, at least at the moment. If you wish, and you can secure yourself a spot in a raid, you have the full blessings of both the Founders and me as the GM. As a matter of fact, I have been to Karazhan, Gruul's Lair and The Eye - retained as a source of DPS (cannon fodder?) for some friendly guilds.

To clearly state, once again, our goal as a guild is to have fun. If you wish to define that as raiding, please do so at every opportunity and good luck on earning some purple drops!

As a source of information, the following links will direct you to Wowwiki entries for the raid-level instances in Burning Crusade. Each entry details attunement, location, strategy and loot tables. I highly recommend studying these at length, as to avoid appearing like a complete nub and suffering embarrassment:
Now keep in mind, even for the "low level raids" like Kara, ZA and Gruul's, you have to have - at a minimum - Heroic Dungeon gear or something similar. In all likelihood, if you are geared in low level blues and greens, you won't perform up to snuff and probably will spend most of the instance dead. This almost guarantees no return trip with the group you managed to PUG with.

Also worth mentioning, and as a warning: Many guilds who take PUGs into raids do not distribute loot to the temporary, out-of-guild additions. I recommend asking beforehand what the loot system is, as well as the odds of you earning a much-desired drop. You should browse the loot tables and make a note of items you really want, then place them in order of desirability.

So, be sure to keep running those Heroics (and earning a Badge of Justice from every boss killed, which are used to purchase some really nice items), grinding away Battlegrounds for your S1 Welfares, or Arenas for S2 and S3 Gladiator gear.

One last thing of note: Karazhan and Zul'Aman instances also reward raid members with one to three Badges of Justice per boss completed. Ielle and I recently ran with Kevster, a tank we know from leveling, who earned 22 Badges on a full Kara run.

An Epic Find by Ielle

She shared with me via email, and I am compelled to pass it along. Enjoy!

Guild Rank Restructuring

Due to the increased influx of members, and a misunderstanding of how invitations to Frequently Reported worked, I have redone the Guild Ranks. Additionally, I have elaborated on what is expected of you, as a member, as well as what you can expect from the guild.
  • Founder - This rank is reserved for the initial founding members. This rank, along with GM, are the only ones allowed to invite people to the guild. Founders and the GM have final say in all matters and outrank all other ranks.
  • Member - Once a Recruit donates 15 gold to the Guild Bank, they achieve this ranking, as well as access to the Bank's contents. That is the extent of the benefits of this rank. Members do not have rank over Recruits.
  • Recruit - The fledgling members of Frequently Reported who have yet to deposit the prerequisite 15 gold into the coffers are considered Recruits. Recruits will be elevated to Member status as soon as they make the deposit.
  • STFU Noob! - Occasionally, people become impassioned, irate or start acting in a manner that is inappropriate in Guild Chat. In these instances, a player can be demoted to this rank and unable to participate in Guild Chat.
  • Alt - All alts, regardless of main character's rank, are of this rank.
Frequently Reported is a social guild with few aspirations for end-game raiding. Initially, a few of us sought refuge from the renown AkamaDrama™ and rerolled to Bonechewer in order to do so - abandoning our characters to a semi-permanent retirement on the Alliance side. The core reason was essentially all the time, effort and labor for hardcore raiding leaves people bitter, spoiled, and otherwise "unfun" to be around. We won't return to that. I won't return to that, and this is my guild.

So what is Frequently Reported? PvP? PvE? Heroics and Honor Grinds? Complete and utter goof-offs? The answer - in short - is yes to all the above. If you take a quick peek at the Level 70s on The Armory, you'll see a nice collection of purples obtained through some rather nice pwnage in Battlegrounds, as well as a piece or two of well-earned Reputation and Instance work. But, at our core, we're just a group of close friends who enjoy playing World of Warcraft together. They key to our success, as individuals, has been how close of friends the Founders are.

Many of you have asked about raiding. We will raid, once everyone gets to Level 70 and - more importantly - gets to know one another. There's isn't a deadline to set foot in Karazhan or Gruul's or TK. We'll go when I think we're ready. That won't happen until I am absolutely certain everyone can operate together peacefully and enjoy doing so.

We do have a namesake, the irony is not lost on me, and some of us truly live up to Frequently Reported (Trostnation, to name one). While few of us give a second thought to throwing a nub on the rack in AV chat, we don't take ruthless jabs at one another.

Please, take the time and get to know one another. Be friendly. Be courteous. Be fun. Those are the rules. Some people are more sensitive, and you should be aware of what can be offensive to any individual in question. Other members are so thick skinned, you can blast them with mom jokes all night long - but be prepared to get as good as you give. The important thing to do is learn the limitations of your guildmates, and abide their boundaries.

If you do step out of line, a Founder will most likely send you a polite tell asking you to tone it down. This is for both Guild Chat and Ventrilo. If it becomes a chronic issue, then you'll have to consider whether or not Frequently Reported is the best place for you... or it will be decided for you.

Speaking of Vent: It is a Private Server. Do NOT provide ANYONE the server information without the expressed permission of Dejantu, Ielle, Radd or Trostnation.

Please take the time, new members, and go through the articles on this blogsite. Most of your questions can be answered with a little reading. Welcome to the family and enjoy a long, fun stay with us. :)

– Radd
When the original crew rolled on Bonechewer a few months back, I don't believe we had any inkling of precisely how much success we would all share in such short time. I, for one, take much pride in the fact that all of our level 70s are geared in complete (or nearly complete) Season 1 Gladiator gear and have significant progress with our reputation grinds. Additionally, with the influx of Demonicas' friends and friends-of-friends, it looks like we might start raiding sooner than later.

With a sustained story of success in World of Warcraft, one is expected to eventually find themselves flying the skies at 380% speed (456% speed for the Paladin-inclined members with Crusader Aura) on a Netherdrake... or, as seems to be en vogue, camping on a Battlemaster in ShattLag.

Some of you have already done the quests for this mount on other servers with different characters, but many members of Frequently Reported have not. Consider this article either a refreshing course or quick primer, depending on your previous experience. It is, by no means, a complete guide. For in-depth information, visit the WoWWiki page dedicated to this undertaking here.

Of note: You can begin the Kindness chain without having Artisan Riding Skill, but in order to participate in the daily quests - the bread and butter of the rep grind - you must be in possession of the 5,000 gold skill (though you do not need to have an Epic Flying Mount). This prerequisite quest chain is nine quests long, and worth a considerable haul of gold as well as takes your reputation with the Netherwing Dragonflight from Hated to Neutral.

Where to Start?
Once you have decided to embark upon this chain, fly to Shadowmoon Valley. Just east of Sanctum of the Stars is the Netherwing Fields. You will encounter an NPC, named Mordenai, who will give you the first of the prerequisite quests. Upon completion of the nine - the final one a 5-person group event - you will be eligible for the dailies.

Neutral to Friendly
With six normal quests, four dailies, and one repeatable, you will grind reputation from Neutral to Friendly. Excluding the repeatable (which will reward reputation all the way to Exalted), one should expect to attain Friendly status in no less than three days.

Friendly to Honored
Seven normal quests and the addition of three more dailies makes for increased reputation gains and a quick arrival at Honored. Plus, you pick up the cool little trinket, Overseer's Badge, which will help you in your endeavors in Shadowmoon Valley!

Honored to Revered
Things pick up with ten normal quests - including the six sub-quests of the race chain - and an additional daily. The Overseer's Badge gets an upgrade to the Captain's Badge, usable anywhere. By the time you are eligible for these quests, you should have invested only about five days in your questing and will reach Revered in about seven.

Revered to Exalted
Almost there! Three normal quests take you to a repeatable group quest. Additionally, you receive a final upgrade on your trinket, Commander's Badge, which is also usable anywhere and adds a +45 stamina bonus. By the 14th day of beginning the quests at Neutral, you should either have the reputation, or be close to the required Exalted reputation, to complete the last few quests.

Exalted
The grind is over! After completing three non-action, dialogue-based quests, you can pick out the Netherwing Drake of your choice in ShattLag! At the bottom of this article are the actual in-game graphics used for each of the six Netherwings you can choose from. Your first one is a free reward, but if you decide later that a different flavor is more your style, additional mounts may be purchased for 200 gold each.

Quest: Accepting All Eggs
I did find an online article mapping some egg locations. At 250 reputation per turn in, it is obvious why this repeatable is highly recommended. To view the player's article, go here. With successful harvests, a player can reduce the two week grind significantly.

Goblin Rocket Launcher

There are some things beneficial about engineering. Take, for example repair bots, various scopes and guns an engineer can craft.

Then there is the fun stuff, like the Goblin Rocket Launcher.

This movie is Dizee (formerly, I believe, from Akama) griefing his blessed little ass off... in the funniest of ways! I think my favorite shots are the ones taken in Booty Bay.

But the really awesome thing about the GRL is that it is a trinket, and thus, usable in Arena matches since it is not a consumable!

Extended Maintenance

With the recent rash of Battleground crashes, server login errors, Instance zone-in weirdness and even a crash of the Orgimaar Portal in ShattLag (that was last night - "Instance not found"), it's no wonder Blizz is taking today for extended maintenance. Look for realms to start popping back up at 11:00 AM PST.

GM ePeen

Woot! The grind is over! Last night, alongside Leighann (Ryan), I finally hit the goal of 5000 gold to purchase my training for Artisan Riding Skill.

My gold grind started about three weeks ago, with 1500 gold in the coffers. As you can see by my professions, I'm not a farmer - at least in primary application. So how did I make my cash so quickly? Dailies, dailies, and more dailies! With a minimum return of 11 gold, 40 silver per daily for a level 70 toon, that is a significant lump of change in a relatively short period of time.

In addition, and as I had reported, I was also doing the Sha'tari Skyguard reputation grind. Keep in mind: in addition to Shadow Dust drops for the creation of Elixir of Shadows and the Time Lost Scroll drops for the quest Adversarial Blood, the Skettis mobs will also reward a player with stacks upon stacks of Netherweave Cloth as well as a decent amount of greens and blues suitable for disenchanting into mats suitable for the Auction House.

So what now? I have officially met all of my personal goals for this character, with the exception of a few reputation-based patterns for Leatherworking. Anything else is the proverbial icing on top. With that said, I'd like to ensure everyone else attains their goals. If any of you need assistance with questing or reputation grinds, please let me know. I'll be more than happy to come to your assistance. You'll be able to reach me flying ZOMG2FAST over the skies of Outland. :)
It's officially out, now, and many of the speculative changes have fallen short. At first blush, it appears a legitimate normalization of all classes for PvP is underway, though I believe the general consensus is Druids are still OP. LOL!

Some things of note on the PvP tip: the elimination of diminishing returns on Honor Kills, instant honor calculations, and significant changes in WSG to shorten games.

PvE is getting some love, too. In addition to higher gold amount drops in the raids, many of the 5-person instances have been simplified.

Finally, and consider it a warning to those who have heavily modified UIs, there is this statement:
The Interface Options screen has been completely redesigned. AddOns that interact with the Interface Options screen will need to be updated.

The complete list of changes is available to look over at the official site. Point your browser here.
Computer and Video Games has released a series of articles about World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King which is speculated for release sometime in 2008.

  • The first installment is essentially lore to get players caught up on current events. I'll say it for you, Trost, "RPMORENUBZ!!1one!"
  • The second article focuses on information gleaned from, yet another, Kaplan interview. I am sure some of this, if not most, is just rehashed information. All the same, it is nice to see some confirmation on some aspects only alluded to in previous interviews.
  • The third installation compiles quite a bit of information about the various zones. Unfortunately, there aren't any screenshots.
As more information comes to light, I'll be sure to pass the news on. Feel free to send me an email with any other tidbits you may be aware of, but that has gone overlooked on our blog.

Daily Quests

I've been busting my hump on the Ogri'la dailies, and a few of you have wondered how I got them. In order to begin the quests with this group, one has to complete a series of chain quests. It's not an easy task, by any means, but it does generate quite a lot of gold and reward items.

By virtue of the nature of the entwined factions, many of these dailies will also give you reputation with the Sha'tari Skyguard. Including the two dailies in Skettis, you stand to have six daily quests between the two zones! In short order, anyone can have the Nether Ray epic mount (I'm shooting for the Purple Riding Nether Ray), as well as some very decent epic items available from either faction's vendors.
On the sidebar, you'll notice a new item, World of Warcraft Official Site Feed. This draws the top five latest news items from the Official Site, eliminating any need to sit through the Flash-intensive main page of the World of Warcraft site.

Update: Grats, Blizz, on sending the RSS links directly to your slow loading front page. Jeez!
With my weekend aqcuisition of Dory's Embrace, Radd is quickly reaching the summit of the goals I had set forth for him. With the exception of the Vengeful Gladiator's Waraxe, I have all the gear I aspired to obtain. Trostnation is nearly full up on "her" PvP gear, as is Leighann. Dejantu is quickly closing out his purples, as well. Hell, Ielle has essentially two sets of Welfare Epics!

So I'll put the question out there: What's next? Some of us want to raid. Other wish to work on their alts. Then - of course - there is the Epic Mount gold grind. Maybe there's other options, as well? Post up and let's see what's next. I'd like to see a return to maybe some DrunkRuns in the near future (though, arguably, this would be nothing new to Brad... pwn!)

Leveling

Let's be honest: there isn't any reason to spend any more time in Azeroth than is necessary. Sure, you can do multiple runs of Scarlet Monastary and Stratholme, but to what end? Blues that you'll end up vendoring as soon as you zone into Outlands? The acronym "BFD" immediately comes to mind.

Your best bet (not only for your gear, but for our progression as a guild) is to attain level 58 and jump into the Burning Crusade content. Once there, you'll have the entire guild at your disposal - each person's schedule permitting - to aid you in Instances and Quests.

So how do you get to level 58 in short-order? It's simple: Ask the higher level guildies for assistance with your quests or team up with the other lowbies in our guild. Trust me, even if you loathe questing, it will go super quick. Brad took Trostnation from level 1 to 58 in about 2 weeks, and Brandon already has Agatsuya to level 40.

Master Crafter List

We have two categories covered under the title "Master Crafter", and a "who's who" is long overdue. Contact the person on this list for further information as to what they can create.
  • Alchemy: Trostnation (Brad)
  • Leatherworking: Radd (Chris) - Dragonscale Specialist
Additionally, we have a few on the cusp of being Master Crafters:
  • Enchanting: Leighann (Ryan)
  • Jewelcrafting: Ielle (Dannielle)
  • Leatherworking: Dejantu (Mike) - Tribal Specialist
  • Tailoring: Leighann (Ryan)
So, it seems, we are short a Blacksmith and an Engineer... though we certainly don't require one in the guild. As I told you all before, choose the profession you want or that best suits your class.
I apologize for the lack of posts, but when a fella is on a gold grind, he's going to be busy! First and foremost, welcome all you new faces. I'm glad to have you all in our little haven from Akama, and I hope your stays are a long one.

With your induction to the guild, it's important to mention that our Guild Bank serves to benefit everyone. In order to access the tabs, all you have to do is deposit a measly 15 gold. After that, provided there isn't withdrawal abuse, you have free reign over all tabs. The tab breakdown is as follows, and is subject to change:

Tab 1: Buff food, Patterns, Gear (greens and blues - equip or uses to level enchanting), Scrolls and Books, Potions, and Quest/Reputation Items.

Tab 2: This is all for crafting. Please be discretionary as to how much your withdraw. There are others who craft, as well.

Tab 3: Character Enhancement Items (includes Gems, Bandages, Crafted Ammo, etc.) and Cloth.

Guild Bank rules are simple:
  1. Don't withdraw more than you deposit.
  2. Be considerate of other crafters.
  3. Don't put junk in the bank.
I check the logs from time-to-time (and you can as well) via The Armory. If people are making sketchy withdrawals, then privileges will be revoked. Also, if items are sitting and rotting, I'll likely pull them and vendor for funds for more tabs.

To any blacksmiths or jewelcrafters: There is a ton of ore in the bank. Please feel free to smelt and prospect it down.
