A New Profiler Site

Warcrafter has been vastly upgraded from the dinky little profile site it once was. A player can now get all pertinent information on any other player, as well as mix 'n' match gear in order to experiment with builds, bonuses and stats. It even has a beta visual profiler so you can see what the experimental gear looks like on your toon!

Druid Primer by Einstein

If any of you are considering rolling a drood, please take note of Einstein's results from his thorough investigations into this ever-diverse class.

Some New Faces

Nick has brought a few friends over from Akama, and I hope they decide to be with us for the long haul. I'll post a bit more about these players as they settle in and get some levels under their belt - some names might be familiar to those of us former Akamanians!

Be sure to welcome them and offer a helping hand.
LightQueue was discovered by Dannielle a few days ago, and is the perfect alternative to StinkyQueue, which I reported as a great addon for group-queues in AV.

A lightweight alternative to the StinkyQueue addon, makes all players join a battleground at the same time(such as AV).

This addon is intented as a lightweight solution to the StinkyQueue addon, it simply sends a sync message to all players in raid to queue up to the battleground with the /q command, all players need to have the selected battleground join tab open, they also need to have either LightQueue or StinkyQueue installed.

It works great, and I recommend either for those who are doing group AVs for teh poorpulz. You can directly download the addon here.

Incidentally, the author of this addon mentions Capping, another Ace2 addon for BGs. I've used this exclusively for Battlegrounds since Dannielle and I decided to do the honor grind, and absolutely love it. It, too, is available from the Ace2 files site - linked to the right.

Content Changes

Due to the lack of participation in the screenshots, I deleted the top Flickr banner. I also deleted the survey regarding Karazhan, since I know who wants to roll and who doesn't.

If I do get some screenies submitted, I'll repost the section - I figured y'all were as tired of looking at the same six screenshots as I was! :)
Ah, the joys of rumor-mongering. Back on December 22, I posted a few articles with scrubby info on possible 2.4.0 content for WoW:BC. Now, more information has come to light. Enjoy the diggins... (hint: Priests got some love and 'Locks got some much-needed nerf!)

I Blame Trost's Rhetoric

/flashback to IaP Googlegroups :)

Yeah, so servers are down for "emergency something or blah blah blah" until 1:00 PM PST... It's Brad's fault for an over-liberal interpretation of QQ. The Gods of teh Interwebz are punishing all of us becuase Brad can't pass up an opportunity to weaksauce a flame.

This, dear Trostie, is QQing. The last post was merely ominous reporting. G-f'ing-G, son. LAWLPWNT ;)

UPDATE: As of 2:51 CST, Bonechewer is live. My guess is that the emergency crap was only for the servers listed in the previous Breaking News.

Patch 2.3.3

Here are the patch notes from the under 4 MB patch. Servers should come back up by 11:00 PST, unless we have a repeat of patches past... For the most current patch information, you can always go here, and the latest test realm patch notes can always be found at here.

  • Guttripper in Nagrand will no longer evade when engaged.
  • Players will now be correctly credited with their arena points if they purchase an arena item during weekly arena calculations.
  • Using a castsequence macro on a target moving out of range will no longer cause it to stop working.
Be sure to give Dannielle a warm birthday wish when you see her tonight. Happy Birthday, Ielle!

Group Queues for AV Made Easier

StinkyQueue is an addon that I'm going to recommend we all download and use for our group queues into AV.

This addon is designed to better your chances of getting a party or raid into the same AV. That does not mean that it is 100%, it can be hit or miss. But with this addon, a raid leader can make some judgement calls on if the raid should enter, re-queue everyone, or have those with out the game to queue for it. All of which they can all do with the click of a button.

The commands and instructions seem easy, so download it and let's give it a whirl.

Iowa, a Basement, a Desk and Wireless

I'm back, kids. After spending most of the day building a desk with Frank's help and dropping $50.00 on a wireless router, I'm all set up to get back on the horse again. Looking at Brad and Dannielle's gear, I have a bit of catching up to do in terms of PvP.

I did manage to buy my Gladiator's Heavy Crossbow and throw a Khorium Scope on it before I tore down my rig, though. :) Most of my gear-grind is done and I am looking forward to...

Karazhan. I confirmed with Xtremedialup that [No Cop No Stop] will undertake Kara in the next few weeks. When asked about if there's any space for us, he replied:

We have a tank and one healer. What we need is a few more healers and DPS.

This opens a door for us, and soon. Please contact me in-game if interested.

Finally, my latest reputation grind is with Cenarion Expedition, which means I have a lengthy grind for Coilfang Armaments. This a perfect (and self-serving) chance to remind everyone to use the bank for both depositing items and withdrawing those things you need.

Some GM - Never Online!

As you may have noticed, I have been AFK since Wednesday. It is due, in a large part, to me having reloated to Iowa over the weekend. The move went well, but I am still - for all practical arguments - offline on my iMac. I should return sometime early in the coming week.

Speaking of AFK players, neither Russ or April have been on their characters for some time, now. I have information they both rolled a PvE server, and plan to transfer the characters to Bonechewer once they reach 70.

PatchPwn

No real surprise, I guess. Realms will continue to be offline until 12:01 PST because Blizzard is incapable of doing it right the first time.

9,000,000 paid accounts worldwide...
$15.00 USD a month...
12 months in a year...

That's $1,620,000,000 from subscriptions - not even counting the initial money from buying the game. With that kind of money, a person (or company) could buy an oil refinery. One would think they could do a bit better. GG, Blizz!

Patch Day!

According to the login screen, it is just regular maintenance, yet I am downloading the 2.3.2 Patch even as I type this. It's a small one, so no one should worry about any real downtime.

Update: I installed the patch while I was entering the WoWHead links, and tried logging in after I finished. All realms are down as of 11:30 AM CST, so this means they seeded the update prior to the maintenance.

Let's hope there aren't any significant issues with UIs. I know that the last patch messed up both custom and stock UIs across the board.

And now for the juicy details! Here are the official patch notes for 2.3.2 - at first blush, it looks like rogues received some love... and I can't wait to see how many people I can freeze with one trap in the next Battleground!

General

  • /timetest is a command that can be run to provide information on game performance. /timetest 0 turns the command off. Well, it is Our Guild Name...

LOL! Sunday was filled with some atrocious AV games, so a few members of the troupe began flaming random nubs in the BG. As is always true with flinging insults, someone got buttsore over being mocked. Both Brand and I were reported - and there was official GM followup, to boot.

Long live Frequently Reported!

New Warrior Guide

Following a breadcrumb trail of a great guide for warriors through various sites, I discovered a free version of Class Action Tankspot's World of Warcraft Warrior Guide without having to sign up for some stupid eClub. Although written to guide warriors through every aspect of playing their class, this extensive and detailed guide contains information pertinent to all classes.
You will find reading material that will teach you the deepest mechanics of your class from experienced authors who have played for years. These authors have a shared knowledge that covers every square inch of the World of Warcraft and the warrior class.

For your ease of acquisition, I posted the eBook on FileFront. Just click on the obnoxiously large badge below and you will be redirected to the download page.

I was trying to browse The Armory, and a lot of the Frequently Reported crew's profiles were not displaying, so I started to go through the F.A.Q.

Check out the screenie to a common question regarding Lifetime Honor Kills. Click the image to enlarge. It's good for a chuckle.
With the rolling in of the New Year, and access to Frank's PoS, I will take this opportunity to welcome Jessi to our guild. As most of you know, Jess is Dannielle's roommate, and caught the WoW bug by proximity.

That is to say, she spent enough time watching Ielle roll (oftentimes providing a massage) to decide to buy a new iMac and a WoW account!

When you get a chance, be sure to welcome her in and pitch in on some advice or a helping hand with her rogue, Charli.

There's also been our first /gquit over the holidays. Braandy has moved onto a raiding guild in search of purpler pastures through raiding. Her beau, Wickedbad, is still with us and still rolling hard in PvP.

Be sure to check out everyone's new lewts and gear - as well as specs - through The Armory. It seems most of our crew spent some quality time in Battlegrounds, and there have been some significant gear upgrades across (acrost? lol) the board.

Finally, I am planning on heading back to Minneapolis tomorrow during the daylight to begin preperations to move back to Iowa - if only in interim until I can gather the necessary resources to make the move to Fort Worth. The holidays were fantastic for me, and I hope everyone else's were as rewarding. I'll see y'all online tomorrow!

Dannielle pointed me to a very interesting article over at Wired posted in early December 2006. Apparently, there is an underway project to create a MMPOG based on Firefly. Mine is an evil laugh!

Now, preliminary digging has not turned up much more information, but I will share what ever else I can find.
I feel confident that we'll see something the public can play sometime in 2008.
