Season IV Prior to WC: WotLC

Confirm. Drysc, the pimp of the WoW Forums, all but stated in bold blue that Season IV will preclude the release of the much anticipated second expansion.I'm damned stoked - especially in view of my weaksauce Arena Point total. So what does this mean, exactly? It means that S1 will be retired, S2 will go honor based, S3 will be straight Arena Points, and S4 will be based on a new system. It's worth reminding you all that a player can bank a maximum of 75,000 Honor Points and 5,000 Arena Points.
What the new system is, precisely, is still being debated. It ranges from earned "tokens" to mixing in some PvE accomplishments with one's PvP earning in order to purchase the Brutal Pieces. In the meanwhile, take a look at some of the S4 some people data-mined from the PTR (incidentally, the picture is the complete plate Gladiator's Battlegear):

Seasons have and will likely continue to match PvE progression. There's always the possibility of starting a new season and not adding new items of course, but as we have Sunwell coming a season 4 and upgraded items to match Sunwell item budgets are an inevitability.
